Why Everyone Should Have a Photobooth

Almost every wedding blog has one thing in common.. they've all talked about or posted photos from a photobooth. Seriously. For all you brides-to-be stalking other planning blogs, find ONE that hasn't done a post with one. I dare ya!

I know its a trend, but with everyone doing photobooths, or faux-tobooths, we were hooked. There was such a wide variety of types, some whimsical, some vintage, but they were all fun, and the pictures are priceless.

(Unless otherwise noted, all photos were clipped from Weddingbee. Click on the photo for its blog-post-link.)

All you really need is a camera, a tripod, and maybe a sheet with a fun print.
Oh, and props, cause everyone loves funny hats and mustaches.

Below, Mrs Cookie went with a traditional rented photobooth, and even provided colorful paper to attach the photo strips to!

Mrs Avacado even thought to bring in a dry erase board for people to include messages!

We knew our reception was going to be a party. We knew that people tend to be silly when happy (and drinking) and we REALLY wanted to encourage this and capture it on film. I've shown you before what can happen with our family friends at weddings. So, true to form, our friends, and our families friends were all drinking and laughing and having a great time... and we caught it all on "film".
(And by "we" I mean our uber wonderful photogs.
Rae and Wes set up the background, provided the props, and snapped the shots! )

I think some of these may end up being among our favorite photos. And as you can tell, it was a hit with the entire crowd, not just us "kids".
They captured the feel of the party and the wide variety of personalities regardless of the ages. It was worth every penny, and in the near future I'll do a full post on our photobooth photos.

A few weeks ago, my husband came across these and we think they would be a great addition to anyone's photobooth props!

And one last idea that I found on weddinbee by way of Martha Stewart,

How fun is that? Use the chalkboard for messages and backdrop!

So, there you have it. Photobooths are just plain fun and you end up with pictures to look at and laugh with for years to come. I highly recommend it!
Anyone else planning the booth route?

This was us.

I'm surprised that our feet are touching the ground, since it felt like we were flying.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

We're MARRIED!!!

We are married!
*que happy-dance*
It was absolutely perfectly imperfect and I wouldn't change a thing. Ok, maybe one or two things, but nothing that mattered. I've LOTS of stories to tell, and lots of lessons learned. Last minute preparations, out of town bags, rehearsal dinner and welcome party fun, 100 degree fevers, some almost dress regret, last minute jewelry decisions, wedding cake craziness, and changing into my mothers wedding dress!!

And it was one hell of a party!!! I'm off on my mini-moon until Easter, but I might pop in from time to time as my AWESOME photogs send more photos!! In the mean time, they posted these teasers and I LOVE THEM!!! They look much better on their blog.
THANK YOU RAE AND WESLEY!!!!
EEEK!! I love it.

oooh - its like its glowing!!

Stay tuned!

Photo Competition and My Favorites

The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets our members apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography.
Well, the WPJA and BRIDES Magazine just released the winners of this years photo competition! (See all winners here.)

But here are a few of my favorites!
(Click on each photo for larger image and photographer information)
Ok, as much as I love this little boy being completely oblivious, I want to know what her dress looks like!! Correct me if I'm wrong but those look like suit tails with red lining! I've got to say, never seen that!

Not only is it a fun shot and she's got beautiful shoes... wait.. look closer.. her feet aren't touching the ground at all! And the groom BARELY has one toe touching! Talk about your heart having wings!

This one I just think is a beautiful photo. Actually, its given me an idea! Our bedroom is decorated (more or less) in what I have dubbed Beach Asian. How cool would a B/W photo like this from our own wedding be to hang in our room as art!?

I love it. I love the lighthearted feel and the HUGE couldn't-be-happier/laughing-til-I-cry face on the Bride.

Definitely one of my favorites! Genya Garrett rocks and I think she caught this "OMG the ring is stuck!" moment pricelessly. It makes me laugh.

I want to be her. Too bad there are not rivers or rope swings around our wedding site!

Go, look for yourselves. Who are your favorites?

Photography: In the Nanosecond

I promise I will get back to my wedding weekend posting in just a bit! But a friend just email this to me and I thought I would share. I posted before about really capturing the moment and the feeling about what it's like to be there in that moment. Now getting a little more technical and focusing about being there, in that NANOSECOND!

These photos were in an email FWD so I have no idea who to credit. If they are yours, let me know!

WOOHOO!

Talk about breaking the bank! (hehheh - sorry, couldn't resist)

Everyone loves this moment in movies (and no one looks sexy doing it in person) but how cool is that water arc?

Oh SH*T!

Flying kitty!

This is going to hurt.

More awesome water arc-i-ness.

I like the guy already flinching in the background.

Hover puppies! Just fun.

Great form!

Oh damn.

S obviously it takes a moment for the nerves to send message to brain that head is covered in water, because this guys face looks like he doesn't actually know yet. Craziness.
=)
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Blog Bliss: VUE Photography

Quick detour from my wedding planning weekend into Blog Bliss! So this isn't a full blown Blog Bliss post, but Genya from VUE Photography posted this beautiful wedding in Greenville, South Carolina. LOVE this venue!! Check out her blog for more!

Lovin' this window shot!

As fun as this photo is.... I am hoping to avoid it for my wedding. For me; Potty Time = Personal!!! Not a group event!

Last but not least, my favorite photo. Love the venue, love the photo.

Genya - You rock.
